Competition - FAQ

  • What is the Amity Competition Blog?
    • As Amity has grown our athletes have developed to the point where they are becoming interested in, and capable of, competing in the sport of fitness. This blog is designed to help nurture those skills and develop them to the greatest degree possible. As the athletes at our gym develop and grow stronger this blog will keep pace and continue to push the boundaries of our athletes performance.
  • What do I need to know in order to follow this blog?
    • You need a working knowledge of how to perform most common exercises related to strength and conditioning. When things come up that are new you will need to look them up and do a bit of research. A big part of becoming an athlete is the learning and discovery that goes with training, it will be assumed that you are an involved and dedicated member of your developing fitness.
  • Can I do both the group classes and competition blog?
    • As an adult you are capable of making your own decisions. Whether or not those decisions are beneficial for your training is another thing entirely. If you want to make improvements in the long run, you need to commit to a process for the long term and focus.
  • I can only train 3 or 4 days per week, can I still make improvements with that schedule?
    • While following a full program is best, it is understandable that not everyone will be able to follow each day fully. Working the most days you are able will most likely still produce good results, however those who excel maximally will be those who are able to commit the maximum amount of time to their training and recovery on a daily basis.
  • Should I take supplements in order to compete?
    • Get nutrition dialed in terms of food first. Talk to one of our coaches to help get you on track and fueling yourself appropriately. The smaller nuances will come with time.
